The front doorbell (and distance to the front door across the common area) has been a bit of a nuisance. Member Ray has fixed the problem! There is now a string-pull doorbell out the back window!
Honk Honk!
We’ve got a house laser (and a Community “A” below). These are lower power solid state lasers. Great for cutting light material and engraving on may materials. They’re quiet but make lots of fumes.
To install, always keep the laser itself unplugged for safety. That means unplug the laser module from the controller so it can’t fire up by accident.
Install Benbox software. It’s fairly self explanatory but you can find lots of youtube video and Web pages explaining how to use it.
Other software may work.
Here’s our first “Community A” machine.
Yesterday we experimented with wooden ink stamps. The stamps are made using the CNC cutter and we were hand pressing the stamps. This is incredibly fun and I’m pretty sure some of will be making more! I did a demo of making a stamp and I made up my own business card.
Sarah was showing off her arduino project. As you can see she’d been 3D printing, soldering, breadboarding and programming. Her project is a haptic feedback system.
